In efforts to raise public awareness in Africa on the catastrophic and humanitarian consequences of nuclear weapons, and the damaging effects of uranium mining, K-Project for Peace acknowledges that advocacy through community mobilization and public education is imperative. For this, K- Project for Peace has scheduled the following activities between January- July 2015.
Climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro
K- Project for Peace aims at raising national and international visibility by teaming up with fellow activists to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro on 30th June-4th July 2015. The climbing of the mountain is symbolic to the fact that even though eliminating nuclear weapons is a tall order, it is possible to do it in our generation! K- Project for Peace will hold a pre-climbing conference and workshop at the foot of the mountain before the climb, and a press conference at the end of the climb to submit the K- Project for Peace Declaration in support of global nuclear ban treaty and an Africa free of uranium mining. Social Media and Press Campaigns
K- Project for Peace will continuously educate the public through social and mass media before and after the climb about the catastrophic and humanitarian consequences of nuclear weapons, and the damaging effects of uranium mining. Click here to join the conversation.
Public Education Forums
K- Project for Peace activists in Tanzania will hold public education forums known as ‘Target X Installations’ in Bahi, Dare Salam and Arusha to educate the public on the damaging effects of uranium mining, and its link to nuclear weapons before the climb. A national network
